Welcome to the Benedict Center where a passion for justice runs deep, underscoring our belief that change is always possible and transformation a reality.
Founded on principles of restorative justice 30 years ago, our small agency opens its doors and our hearts to women in conflict with the law every day. We help accused men, women and youth of all faiths find strength in their own
personal spirituality in the Milwaukee County jail. We act as the conscience of the criminal justice system and the good people of Milwaukee, taking action to right wrongs and demonstrate what really works for individuals who have committed an offense under the law.
Here at the Benedict Center we are the compassionate community we cultivate beyond our walls. Always, we respect the inherent human dignity and human rights of every person, including victims, offenders, and their families and neighbors.
We are a small staff, augmented by hundreds who join us in the work for justice from Milwaukee neighborhoods, schools, churches, nonprofits, businesses and the criminal justice system. Together we act to repair the harm done by crime and social injustice, to restore justice for all in every neighborhood, and to make community justice a reality in Milwaukee and Wisconsin.
Explore our site to see how we do these things. If you find yourself a kindred spirit, consider getting involved. Tell us how to contact you and we’ll tell you what we’re up to right now. Think about joining our work for justice with a little of your time, your talent or your dollars. Or just stop back from time to time. You’re always welcome here at the Benedict Center!
